Associate Architect Or Engineer

Description

The Dallas (Irving, Texas) office of WJE is seeking both junior-level and more experienced architects or engineers with interest in:

The investigation and repair of existing failing building enclosure systems and
Providing enclosure design recommendations that minimize failures and increase comfort, durability, and energy efficiency for new buildings.

Candidates should be familiar with building enclosure components (especially exterior wall, roofing, and waterproofing systems), hygrothermal modeling, the appropriate use of materials, and building enclosure details and specifications. While entry-level candidates should only have exposure to these topics, those with work experience should be competent and able to provide technically sound solutions for existing building enclosure failures and recommendations for new construction projects.

While project management responsibilities will be commensurate with experience, both junior level candidates and those with three to seven years of work experience will assist on all aspects of a project including construction observation, investigations, sample testing, failure diagnosis, and creation of client deliverables. All candidates will assume responsibility for key aspects of projects and complete assignments of varying degrees of complexity (commensurate with experience and competence) with limited oversight.

Requirements:

Bachelor of Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or Engineering with additional consideration to those with a Master's degree in these fields of study
Professionally licensed Architect and/or Engineer preferred (or AID/EAT on track to become licensed)
Recent graduates up to seven years of building envelope consulting experience with sound knowledge of building materials, field investigation methods, and scientific principles as they relate to building envelope performance
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong computer skills including CAD and Microsoft Office
Interest in participation in local or national professional organizations
Ability to work in the field and to travel outside local area as workload and projects require
